- Have the students start off in a circle.
- Have them partner up with one person next to them, and link elbows with that person.
- They cannot be in groups of three. Two people stand in the middle of the circle (not linked).
- One of them is “it”, the other is the runner.
- The runner must run away from the person who is it, and link elbows with someone in the circle in order to not be tagged.
- Since there cannot be groups of three, the person on the other side of the pair (not the person who the runner linked elbows with) must unlink elbows and becomes the new runner.
- If the person who is “it” tags the runner, the two switch roles (the person who is “it” becomes the runner and the runner is “it”).
- At any time, an adult may shout “switch” and the chaser must become the chased.
